When you don’t have enough space between the top of the window frame and ceiling to put brackets for a decorative rod, you would use tracks (this is the case in many condominiums). If you want to add an extra touch to your drapes and you have enough space in your home/office, you should use a decorative rod. Decorative rods and tracks can also be used in combination. For example if you would like to have sheers and drapery panels, the ideal solution for you may be a track for the sheers in the back and a decorative rod for your drapery panels in the front.

We recommend bigger diameter rods for higher ceilings because drapes are heavier and a thicker rod will create the proper balance. Having a really thin rod on a high ceiling will make it hard to see and it will not look ideal. Our designers will gladly recommend to you the ideal rod diameter for your individual situation.

Standard sizes are 4, 6, 8 and 10 feet for decorative rods but they can be cut to perfectly fit your windows. Two or more rods can also be connected using a rod connector making multiple rods look and function like a single rod. This is the recommended application for really wide windows.

Metal rods are hollow and can be cut with pipe cutter or simple jigsaw. Wood rods are solid wood and can also be cut using a wood saw or a jigsaw. After cutting wood rods our installers drill a hole in the center of each end so that finials can be screwed in.

For decorative curtain rods the rule of thumb is to have a bracket every 4 feet. An exception is with a 6-foot rod where you can use only two brackets unless your curtains are extremely heavy, in which case you may need a center curtain bracket for additional support.

For curtain tracks the rule is to have a bracket every 2 feet. Again, if your curtain fabric is not heavy, like in the case of sheers, you can have a bracket every 3 feet.

You can use special wall brackets if your rod is between two walls or you can use end caps instead of finials. Ask one of our designers and we will gladly show you your options.

Yes, we have stunning acrylic curtain rods which are also known as clear curtain rods or lucite curtain rods. The longest size we carry is 12 feet. Our clear curtain rods can be cut to any size you need.

This will depend on the length of each window. Generally speaking if you have sheers, two standard curtain brackets will be enough for a six-foot rod. If you have lined curtains then you will need to add another curtain bracket in the center for added support. Keep in mind that you will need two standard curtain brackets at each connection (the joint where two rods are connected with a connector).

For example, say you have a bay window that has two side-windows that are four-feet each, and a center window that is six-feet long; If you have only sheer curtains (light curtains), you will need two brackets, one for each end, and you will need four brackets for the two joints where the rods connect. So you will need six brackets in total.

If however, you have heavier lined curtains, then you will need the same six brackets plus one more bracket in the center of the middle rod for added support. So you will need seven brackets in total. There is an exception to this rule. We do carry a special bracket-elbow product, which is a rod elbow and a bracket in one product. This means that with this product you only need one bracket at each rod connection instead of two as mentioned above. So in the sheer curtain scenario above you would only need two connector-brackets, one for each rod connection joint, and two brackets for the rod ends. For the heavier lined curtains scenario you would just add one more bracket for added support.

Whether you go with standard curtain brackets or the connector-bracket will depend on which style of curtain rods and drapery hardware you go with as the connector-bracket is available for select curtain hardware collections only.

Yes, this is possible. Usually you will need two standard (non-passing) curtain brackets, one at each end of the bay window side rods, and you will need two passing brackets at each connection (where two rods connect to each other with a connector to form the angle of the bay window). So in total you will need at least four passing brackets. If your bay windows are longer than four feet each, you may need an extra passing bracket in the middle of each rod for added support. When it comes to passing rings, it is important to note that passing rings will not smoothly pass the bay window corners and you will need to carefully guide them past the rod joints. As a general rule of thumb, you will need eight rings for every twenty one inches of rod.
